As a result, you obtain a single self-extracting Excelsior Installer setup.

Creating an update

Click the Update package button to prepare an update to an installation package created earlier. With it, you are able to update or fix client installations of your product. To make an update, you need a project file saved as "updatable" for the original package /You can save a project as updatable after creating an installation on the last step of Packager (see Step 4: Creating The Installation Package.)/ . Just open that project and make the necessary changes in the contents of the installation.

Packager assists you in tracking differences between the original and changed installations to include only added and modified files in the update. You can perform a trial run to make sure that your application will work properly after installing the created update.

On the final step, you will create either a self-extracting archive (if you use Excelsior Installer) to automatically update the installed application, or a set of files that you can supply as input to a third-party installation tool to prepare the update package.
