First non-Sun J2SE 1.4 Ready Java(tm) Implementation Available

Excelsior Releases New Version Of Its High Performance Java VM Replacement For Microsoft Windows

NOVOSIBIRSK, RUSSIA - April 12, 2002 - Excelsior, LLC, announced today the general availability of Excelsior JET 2.5 - high-performance J2SE 1.4 ready Java(tm) implementation for Microsoft(r) Windows(r), which replaces the conventional Java VM. "We are proud to become the first independent vendor to provide a J2SE 1.4 ready Java engine," - said Dmitry Leskov, Director of Marketing for Excelsior.

Also new in this release is the GUI-based control panel. Its wizard-like interface guides the developer through the process of JET project creation step-by-step. The panel is expected to greatly improve developers' productivity over the command-line interface, which used to be the only option in previous versions of JET. "You still have to learn JET control files' syntax if you want to access advanced features, such as the JetPerfect Global Optimizer," - said Vitaly Mikheev, Excelsior's CTO and JET architect, "but we estimate that many developers simply will not need those features, and for them the product's ease-of-use has improved dramatically in this new release."
