Q: Who may use the licensed software?
A: Any student enrolled in and any faculty or staff member employed at
your Academic Institution may use the licensed software for the purposes
of education and non-commercial research while their relationship with
the Academic Institution lasts.
Q: Can the software be used on home computers and laptops?
A: Yes, qualified users may also use the software for the licensed purposes
at home and when travelling on Academic Institution's business.
Q: What technical support resources are available?
A: For one year since the date of licensing, the Technical Contact
you designated when applying for your Academic Site License shall
receive the same technical support as any commercial user of the
respective product with active Standard Support Contract.
Other users of the software have to refer their technical support
inquires to that individual. You shall also receive free upgrades
to versions released within that year.
After the end of the initial one year period of support and maintenance,
you shall have the option to renew the Support and Maintenance Contract
to continue receiving those services. If you do not do that,
you shall only have access to self-help tools and user forums available
on Excelsior Web site. Exception: Defect reports shall be accepted until
the last version of the product you received is superseded by a newer version.
Q: Can the designated Contacts be changed before License renewal?
Sure you may designate, with reasonable frequency, temporary or permanent
replacements to the Administrative and Technical Contacts,
e.g. when they go on vacation or leave the Academic Institution.
Q: Does a multi-campus University qualify as a single Academic Institution Site?
A: No. An Academic Institution Site must operate under one Administrative/Admissions
Department.
For example, the University of California at Berkeley and its remote
research facilities qualify as a single Academic Institution Site, whereas
UC Berkley and, say, UC San Diego together do not qualify as a single Site.
