Key New Feature of Excelsior JET 7.0

Apache Tomcat will be powered by Excelsior JET 7.0…

Hmm, the logo on the right says that rather Excelsior JET must be powered by Tomcat… One way or another, the forthcoming version of Excelsior JET (4Q 09) will include the built-in support for Apache Tomcat.

It means that you will be able to:

  • Pre-compile the Tomcat server along with your Web applications into a native code executable and distribute it without the original class/WAR files
  • Create a self-contained package without dependency on the JDK

We kindly invite you to test Excelsior JET 7.0 beta 2 against your Web applications.

Full list of new features and improvements is available on the download page.

UPDATE: See also the post about the discussion in `tomcat-users’ mailing list at apache.org.

Stay tuned!
