  1. The Java 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition 1.4.1_01 from java.sun.com (English edition) is 8,015,928 bytes, and 9,937,344 bytes for the edition with all languages. See http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/download.html
  2. I've written a small benchmark program, that calculates the number of primes below 5000000. On my AMD Ahtlon XP 1900+ with 512 Mb running Windows 2000 I measured the following: Sun Java HotSpot Server VM (build 1.4.1_01-b01, mixed mode) : 10094 ms Sun Java HotSpot Client VM (build 1.4.1_01-b01, mixed mode) : 10688 ms JET 3.0 with JDK 1.4.1_01 : 9875 ms The benchmark program is here: public class Primes { final static boolean isprime ( int i ) { int j; for ( j = 3; j*j <= i; j += 2 ) if ( i % j == 0 ) return true; return false; } static public void main (String[] args) { int i, primes = 1; long started, finished; System.out.println ( "Started" ); started = System.currentTimeMillis(); for ( i = 3; i < 5000000; i += 2 ) if ( isprime ( i ) ) primes++; finished = System.currentTimeMillis(); System.out.println ( "No of primes = " + primes ); System.out.println ( "Milliseconds = " + (finished - started) ); } }
  3. Hi, Just to let you know. I just tried to use a exe compressor to compress your SWT fileviewer demo even further. It's working excellent The disk foot-print went from 2,897,408 bytes to 1,186,304 bytes. Now the exe file and swt- dll can fit on a floppy disk without using any zip tools. Just insert the floppy and start the exe- program. FunnyGuy
  4. IIRC I've seen some talk about a Linux version. Are there any news about this? Funny
  5. Before I try your new Jet 3.0, I have a question: Does it support version jdk 1.4.1_01 ? Funny
