  1. Hello, Just wondering now that JET is SUN certified, if there are future plans to support 64-Bit versions of Java? I current have one of my servers running Windows 2003 x64 Enterprise Edition and would like to expirement with 64-Bit apps. Also, for JET 4.0 -- have float's been optimized better or should I keep most of my calculations in double still? Thanks, es3754
  2. Update 2 does work. You'll have to re-run Jet Setup to compile the new profile. -Eric
  3. it supports Update 1 so far. I haven't tried it with Update 2 yet. I'm going to try it today sometime. I'll keep you posted. -Eric

    Service started then stopped

Included all of the 'JET Runtime' during the JetPack Step 5 (of 10). After including all the JET RT and reinstalling the new setup package... does your service still start and stop right away? if it still does, its most likely something in your code, in which case you should put a Event log message at certain points in your code to see where execution stops. Hope it helps! -Eric

    Java 1.5 RC

Java 1.5 RC (or 5.0 some say) was recently released... I was wondering when the next SP would be released to support this in windows or linux. I'm available for beta testing if needed for either os. Thanks!

    Linux installation question?

Sorry, I only worked with Red Hat Fedora Core 1 and 2. I'm assuming you are using JET 3.6 w/ MP1 (the latest)? To get it to compile in c1/c2 I had to run: cd /usr/lib cp --force --reply=yes libz.so.1 libz.so Also make sure Java 1.4.2_05 (/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_05/bin) is in the path, I added it in to /etc/profile. also make sure this line: LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/local/jet3.6-std/lib/x86/shared" (you may need to correct the path) is added in to /etc/profile also and make sure you put it in the "export" it so its global. EX: export PATH USER LOGNAME MAIL HOSTNAME HISTSIZE INPUTRC LD_LIBRARY_PATH

  11. Hello, I bought JET Standard a while back and I can't get the SMP (Jet Server Beta) to install because, it seems like, it want the eval version. Is there a way around this, I don't really want to install the eval version when I bought the standard. Thanks!

    Packaging problem

I have Windows 2003 Standard and mine seems to run fine when creating a package (nt service type). I have the lastest build of Excelsior and it also ran fine with a few previous builds. Do you have a system environment variable added called: JDK_Home and its value set to where you have 1.4.2_04 installed? (ex: C:\j2sdk1.4.2_04)

    JDK 1.4.2_04

Current version only supports up to JDK 1.4.2_03. You have to wait till SP3 comes out to support JDK 1.4.2_04.
  14. Hello, I found an odd thing that happens to a compiled EXE from JET. Using any of these lines of code under Windows 2000 Server: Provider[] aProvider = Security.getProviders(); OR MessageDigest md5 = MessageDigest.getInstance("SHA"); Works fine under Windows XP or Windows 2003 Server. I also took the *.class files and ran the code with java.exe on the win2k machine and it works fine -- So something with the JET compiled DLL is my best guess. Not sure how it acts under Windows NT 4.... but my guess is it's the same as Windows 2000. Thanks in advance, Eric

    NT Service Working Directory *Help*

Thanks -- that seemed to work. By default it has "java.class.path=$(Root);" in JetPackII.... would this variable do it to with: System.getProperty("java.class.path")?? Thanks again
  16. I wrote a NT Service and I'm trying to open a "config.ini" file in the current directory (where I installed the service off of program files)... but it's trying to look in my system32 direcctory for the congif.ini file. Since there is no way to have an excelsior setup have multiple root so I could tell the installer to install the config.ini to system32... is there a way to run the service from the installed root folder? Thanks for any help!
