  1. Hello, We use JET 7.0 to build our application. I am getting a NullPointerException at some point when writing data to the disk( to xml file )and there is no stack trace for this exception, although I have enabled full stack trace in the build. It happens only when using JET coz when we do a normal build without using JET we do not get this exception. Below are two different logs where we get this exception, however, they are not very useful as there is no stack trace available. 120329 10:29:39.202 FLOW INFO Job-Forward-35: Sleeping for 10 seconds prior to checking SCU send status for each study (ForwardJob.java-750) 120329 10:29:49.296 FILE INFO Job-Forward-35: Opened for writing D:\bbRad\data\ZUK14\StudiesZUK14.db with encoding UTF-8 (bbRadUtils.java-44) 120329 10:29:49.671 FLOW FATAL Job-Forward-35: Thread Job-Forward-35 crashed! Exception was: java.lang.NullPointerException (bbRadGateway.java-296) It is completely random and throws exception for some data but works fine for the same data when tried again. We use our application in different OS'. We have observed this exception in Windows server 2008 x64, Windows server 2003 x64. I'm happy to provide anymore info you need, to help me resolve this issue.
  2. I have managed to compile my exe's using JET, and everything works fine when I run my program ( as a windows service ) on the machine where JET is installed. But when I try to deploy it to a machine I get error's in the event log saying the following: The first error was : Fatal error: Excelsior JET 7.00 installation cannot be found. HOW TO FIX: If you deploy the compiled executables to other machines, please, use the JetPackII tool to prepare the installation package (see JET User's Guide, "Deployment Automation" for details). Otherwise, include the JET/bin directory into PATH or reinstall JET. So I tried putting the JET/bin dir contents into the location of my application and then I got the following error : Fatal error: "C:\Program Files\bbRad\bbRadGateway.exe" requires JET profile "1.6.0_16" that cannot be found ("C:\Program Files\bbRad\profile1.6.0_16" does not exist). HOW TO FIX: run JET Setup to create a new JET profile and then recompile the application. The profile1.6.0_16 that is under JET install directory is about 300MB so I don't really want to just copy all that. Can anyone tell me what I need to package along with my application in order for JET to work. I have assumed that I don't HAVE to use JetPackII to package my application, my assumption on that is correct yes? Thanks, James
  3. Hi, I have a java application that displays some data in a jframe pop up window once the application is started. I'm using JET 7.0 Professional Edition/JETPackII to compile the application. The application throws no errors when I run the .exe but it does not open the GUI/dialog box(backend functionality works fine). Is there some config setting in JET for the application to open the GUI?
  4. When compiling my application with JET how do I make sure that a persistence.xml file will get picked up correctly when I run it with JET. I have tried with the persistence.xml file inside the .jar file, and I have tried also adding the META-INF folder onto the classpath when I compile with JET. It seems that both ways when I run the application the persistence.xml file is not found. What should be the correct way of achieving this?
  5. ISRV.exe vs windows sc.exe

Hi, I'm just wondering. If my Java application extends com.excelsior.service.WinService, can it be installed using sc.exe that comes as part of windows. Or do you have to install it using the ISRV.exe that comes with JET? I ask because currently our application is installed using a NSIS script that we have developed over the past year or so, we would rather keep using this if possible to install our program after it has been compiled with JET. Does ISRV do anything special, or does it just install the service? Many Thanks, James
