Using environment variables such as %APPDATA% in install path

Recommended Posts

Is there any successful way to use environment variables in Excelsior Installer?  For example %APPDATA%\install  in XP or 2000.  Excelsior Installer has worked great for me however I am now trying to make a user specific package and would like it to install in the current users directory. Obviously I don't want to type in the current user every time I install so I would like to use a default alias.

No, current version of Excelsior Installer does not allow the environment variables to be used in paths.

We will put your request to the wish list for future versions.

Since version 2.0 it is made possible to locate the default installation folder(s) of your application in any of standard Windows locations, like Desktop, Application Data, My Documents etc.

The rich set of predefined locations makes unnecessary the usage of environment variables.
