Concerned about holiday offer..

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just saw a message posted on this board stating that JET 3.7, with JDK 1.5 support, was originally slated for December 2004.

This sets alarm bells ringing that the present "holiday offer" is a trap, as Excelsior will sell 3.6 at the 'budget' price, then wait 30 days for everyone's upgrade protection to run out before releasing 3.7 which (because of the extra language features in JDK 1.5) will ensure that many of them will pay for the upgrade.

Does anyone know what the planned release date for 3.7 is?

Hi,

Currently the release of JET 3.7 is scheduled at first quarter of 2005 (February-March).

We planned to release beta version of JET 3.7 with JDK 1.5 support in december 2004, but this date could be shifted due to technical reasons.

Regards,

AlexM.

We did not intend to build any trap. All we wanted to do is stimulate sales during the holiday season. If you still see a trap here, it is very easy to avoid it - just buy a Maintenance Contract and you will get at no extra cost version 3.7 and any subsequent version released within one year since the date of your purchase.

When bundled with the product, a Maintenance Contract for the Standard Edtition costs just $50, for the Professional - $150.
