How is the inclusion of LGPL licenced libraries handled in an otherwise commersial application?

If I understand the LGPL correctly it requires that a user of my application program should be able to "link in" new versions of any LGPL librarary my application uses. I assume this implies that the LGPL libraries cannot be included in the .EXE generated by the Excelsior compiler. Instead they must be distributed as JAR's with the .EXE and linked dynamically at runtime. Or, if the LGPL libraries are linked statically to the application, the whole application must be distributed in the form of JARs in addition to the .EXE.
